If you’re a veteran and you’re claiming disability after military service, your VA disability claim will go through several phases. The first phase will be the “claim submitted” phase and the initial review of your claim. The next phase is the “gathering of evidence” phase. Your rater is looking for evidence to make the right decision on your claim. The rater does this in many ways. They may order for a C&P exam or ask you to provide treatment notes if you have gone to a private practice for your condition. If you were prescribed medication or referred to a specialist for your condition, they will also request to see treatment notes.
